This past Saturday was our very first run for the Moms RUN This Town (MRTT) running group! The timing couldn't have been better considering the weather was absolutely beautiful. It was about 70 degrees out for our run this morning. There were 3 of us total and we ran 6 miles.

I still have those little moments where I think "I can't believe I just ran that far!" Running was always something I wished I could do, but I suppose I never truly believed I would/could ever be a runner. I'm sure glad I pushed past that mental barrier and proved myself wrong. Lately, I've been pushing past those barriers each week and running further than I thought I could, by running 1 mile further each week on my long runs. Now if I could just a handle on my nutrition. ;) I'll tell ya... that's a really tough wagon to get back on, once you've fallen off. I would LOVE to buy that
Tone It Up Nutrition Plan, but I just can't justify paying $150 for it!
After I got home, Craig left for his Krav Maga class and the kids and I played outside. It was sooo nice out. What tease. lol H ave I mentioned how much I hate summer?

We got the most amazing news last week too. My friend Colleen (Mom of Alstyn, for whom we are running in this event!) was contacted as asked if Alstyn could serve as the honorary Chair for the Rock n Run. How awesome is that?!

The inaugural event will feature Honorary Chair, Alstyn Whitfield.
Alstyn is four years old and has Down syndrome. She lives in Annapolis,
however she also spends time living in Rhode Island as her father, Trent
Whitfield, plays professional hockey for the Providence Bruins. Trent
was a member of the 2011 Stanley Cup Champions Boston Bruins team.
In RI, Alstyn participates in the Special Olympics Young Athletes
Program; for individuals under the age of eight with an intellectual
disability. Last fall, she participated in the Young Athletes soccer
program, winning a silver medal. Alstyn will be joined at the Kent
Island Rock N Run by her family and friends, who are participating in
the 5 Mile run as well as attending the festival.
