We also met some friends of ours at the local (an hour away!) Renaissance Festival. It was entertaining, as they always are, but it's just not the same here in the desert. Back home the site where they held the Renn Fest was BEAUTIFUL! You really felt like you were transported back in time. Here in Apache Junction, AZ... not so much. I bet we could put on a kick butt Wild West Festival though.
Some pics from this past week.

She loves rocks! She was getting the biggest kick out of the sound they made when she would bang them together.

She walked right over and sat down next to Mommy.

Kicking her feet in the dirt.

Best buds.

In the Daddy-pack for the Renn Fest.

Craig was entertaining McKenna while I ate some lunch. As soon as her put her down she just took off. He was over in the grassy area with her while she just ran around saying hi to everyone.

Take a break in the shade.

Not a tree or blade of grass in sight. Renn Fest in the desert... just not the same.

Check her out with her hands behind her head. lol This was at the end of the day and she was starting to get tired. She was SUCH a good girl. We took her out to let her run around a couple of times, but for the most part she was in this pack for the entire 2.5 hrs we were there.

Heading back to the car.

Once we got to the car we let her run around in the parking lot for a while. She was so excited to be out and running around. Of course, she found some rocks right away and was happy as can be.... and dusty as can be.

Score!!

We changed her into jeans toward the end of the day because her little legs were getting a little pink... even with two applications of 70 sunscreen. :)

...And for comparison, here are some pics of the Renn Fest in Maryland. See what I mean??

Hi Melissa-
Thanks for your inquiry on my blog about our countertops. Can you believe we still haven't done anything with them yet? I have been living with one painted black countertop and the orignal laminate ones on the other side of the kitchen for months now!
We have decided to do concrete countertops and I have a friend who does them for a living, but she is very hard to get in touch with, so we've been playing alot of phone tag while trying to schedule some time for her to come up and do them (she is 4 hours away). We may be able to do them ourselves, there was a DIY show on HGTV not too long ago that did it, but my husband feels more comfortable having a professional help us! I've picked out a gorgeous glass tile backsplash that pulls all the colors together nicely, I just hope it is still available, since I found it months ago!
I promise to do an update on my blog whenever we change out the countertops, so stay tuned. It is our goal to have them done by the end of the summer one way or another!
Thanks for stopping by,
Christy
