I'd like to trade this week in, please... Rewind, erase. Yuck.

This was certainly an eventful week... and not in a good way. We had our first little bit of sunburn (she didn't mind, but I felt bad), a fall resulting in a cut on her eyelid and finding out McKenna has H1N1/Swine Flu. Yeah, I'd be more than happy to just erase this past week. Even in the midst of all this crap, we still managed to have some good times and big smiles.

I was attempting to get a photo of the little curl of hair behind her ear, and she was having a good 'ol time feeling the texture of the wall. lol

A better shot of her little curl :)

Hah! Check me out... I'm touching the wall.

Looks like someone got a little too much sun (even under a hat & her super mega sun shade) while we were up in the mountains. She looked so cute with her rosey cheeks.

On Monday (10/12) One of my best girlfriends from home was in town (Scottsdale) for work, so we went to meet her in Scottsdale and have dinner with her. It was so great to see her and to have her meet McKenna!

McKenna checking out the menu. Not impressed, she opts for the cheese puff.

Visiting with Dani.

It wasn't until I got home that I realized she looked like she was dressed for Christmas. lol Oh well. She looked cute.

We headed home dangerously close to her bedtime and she reminded me by screaming the entire way home (20 min). She seemed to be much happier once we got home (read: once she got out of her car seat).

However, it didn't last long. I think she was quite over the photo session. lol
Photobucket

She got over it quickly though.

Tuesday, while playing with her toys, she kept laying down. I thought it was so cute. I figured she was tired... "takin' a lie down" as my Darling Precious Grandmother would say.
Photobucket

Looking back, I think she was probably just starting to feel sick. I had noticed her occasional cough for the first time the night before.

I guess the fact that she was so tired that she fell asleep while eating lunch should have been a dead giveaway. Poor thing. She had decided she didn't need her morning nap this day and I guess it caught up with her. Add in the fact that, unbeknownst to Mommy, she was getting/had the flu and you get one tired peanut.

Later that afternoon, she took a spill while playing with her toys and knocked her eye on this plastic piece that sticks out off of one of her toys. Thank goodness it wasn't any closer to her eye!! She CRIED right after it happened and when I picked her up I saw the blood on her eye. Oh, I felt so bad for her. But as you can see she was back to smiling and laughing after a relatively short time.

Sad Mommy.

The Pedi Nurse told me to check on her that night (and for her naps that day) every 2 hrs to look for any symptoms of a concussion, and not to give her any Tylenol since it might mask symptoms.

Back in action, good as new.

In the middle of the night, during one of my 'every two hour checks', I noticed that McKenna was burning up. This combined with the occasional cough I had noticed the night before worried me a bit. I had read that these were symptoms of H1N1 / Swine Flu.

By the time we got up for the day on Wednesday, I knew she felt awful. She was virtually silent- none of her usual chatter -no smiles, she was super clingy and could barely stay awake. Even though some of these were the symptoms I was supposed to be watching for after her fall, I knew that with the fever and cough that it was unrelated and she was just sick.

Is this a sad face or what!? :( So unlike the Boogie.

While I had been worried about H1N1, I think I just filed that thought away and figured she just had her first cold. I wanted to give her some Tylenol for her fever, but was worried about the fact that the Nurse had told me not to give her any after her recent fall. So I called the office and spoke to the Nurse again. After asking me a ton of questions she told me she felt I should bring her in to be seen.

Poor baby was just exhausted and sick. This was her sleeping on my chest in the Pedi office after being seen by the Pedi (she screamed bloody murder the whole time) while we were waiting on the results of her nasal swab.
The results were not good. She has H1N1/Swine Flu.

They gave us a Rx for Tamiflu and sent us on our way. Mommy had a few tears along the way, but was told by everyone that Tamiflu has had good results in treating H1N1 and that she looked good, her respiration sounded good and so they felt she should respond well.

We got home to wait for our Rx to be ready and for the peanut to get some much needed sleep. I also gave her some Tylenol to help bring down her fever.
Photobucket

She is such a trooper. Later that afternoon she was already feeling well enough to play and was all smiles.
Photobucket

I just thought this face was too cute.
Photobucket

Silly girl.

Same afternoon after an outfit change.

Getting so big!
Photobucket

Quite a departure from July when she was still peering over the crib while laying on her tummy

After the week's events so far, we decided to skip our trip to Palm Desert this coming weekend to celebrate our Anniversary, which was Thursday (10/15). Instead we exchanged a few small gifts and had a nice quiet evening at home.

Roses, chocolates and a DVD from Craig and a really pretty fall bouquet from my Mom. :)

Our Anniversary dinner. ;-)

By Thursday, she seemed to be feeling better and better. She was still moving a bit slower than usual and had a low grade fever off & on.
Photobucket

She would play for a while and then take a break now and then. What a sweetheart.
Photobucket

Isn't this outfit just too much?! lol Yet another adorable hand-me-down from Tracey.

Friday, we spent yet another day at home, since she's still contagious.

She had some meaningful conversations with her best friend Koal.
Photobucket

Inspected the TV with some help from Koal.
Photobucket

Helped Mommy with the laundry.
Photobucket

Chatted it up with Mommy.
Photobucket

All that excitement and she was ready for a nap.
Photobucket

After a nice nap, she was practicing along/around the coffee table. (Yes, she's wearing pants... shorts, actually. Very short ones. lol)
Photobucket

She was memorized by this kid singing a Michael Jackson tune. He does have an amazing voice.
Check out his story here.
Photobucket

Sunday Morning... Check out that crazy hair! lol
Photobucket

Watching football (well, this is a commercial lol) with Daddy.

Photobucket

Having fun ripping apart Daddy's magazines.
Photobucket

Playing with Daddy and her favorite toy.... the measuring cup.
Photobucket

Taking a break with Mommy.
Photobucket

Not quite her usual sparkly self, but still managing to smile as usual. You can still see in her eyes that she's not quite herself yet.
Photobucket

Her other favorite toy... Daddy's cell phone.

So we're one dose away from finishing her round of Tamiflu. We are continuing to keep a close eye on her and her symptoms and I'm trying not to panic. Her fever is pretty much gone, but she still has her occasional cough that I think is worse than before. She just doesn't cough that often. The other thing is that her breath is getting increasingly worse. I'm guessing it has to do with all the infected junk in her system, but it still concerns me. So I'll be calling the Pedi office in the morning to ask if she can be seen again before our 9 month well visit scheduled for Thursday.

That's all for now... I'm super tired. It's almost 11pm and we're still up watching the season premier of Storm Chasers. Fun now, but I'm sure I'll regret it in an hour or so when she wakes up. Last night was not a good night and Mommy only got about 3 or 4 hours sleep, 2+ of which was in the recliner.

Not one of my better choices, not taking a nap today.

Guess who will probably take TWO naps tomorrow?

That's right. Mommy.
