Memorial Day Weekend 2009

I feel a bit like I'm talking to myself on here. I often wonder...is anyone even reading this thing?! lol I know my Mom had said in the past that she was under the impression she had to have a blogger account in order to leave a comment. I don't think that is the case anymore. I think. I'll have to look into that, but I'm fairly certain you can simply select the "name/url" option and just type in your name. You can also use a gmail account login if you have one. Feel free to comment... it's nice to know I'm not talking to myself. Although, I do enjoy our conversations. ;-)

So anyway, Craig was on call this weekend so we didn't plan much of anything for the hoilday weekend. We just worked on some projects around the house and laid low. Fine by me!

I've been feeling really crappy these past 2 days. I was really disappointed about my knee pain that crept up during my running workouts, forcing me to put an end to my running. I put on a pair of shorts yesterday that were tighter than they were the prior week. That just sent me into a tailspin of "I'm a disgusting fat-body" madness.

Well, I was loading pics into one of our digital pic frames and I was adding a few that I had taken with the camera built into my laptop. There was one I had taken on Feb 12 and then the next one was Apr 24. OMG, the difference is crazy. I swear I almost look like a different person. At least I feel a little better now. lol

Check this out!

This is one of the moments where the Mommy with a new baby says "Good Lord, why didn't anyone tell me I looked so bad?!"

Koal (a.k.a. Mr. Biggles) ... so darn cute.

McKenna is starting to take notice of the dogs. She'll watch them as they walk in/out of the room, etc. Just the other day while I was holding McKenna on my lap, Koal walked in the room and I saw her looking at him. I called him and over and began petting with my hand, all the while say "doggie, doggie", she just continued to stare at him and then her little arm came up and she reached our and grabbed his lip. lol Ah, more to come, I'm sure. I can't wait.

Sunday afternoon Craig invited two of his coworkers, Lisa & Laura, to come over and have some wine & cheese with us later that evening. They are so fun to hang out with! Craig ran to AJ's to pick up the wine and food for the evening and I put McKenna in the carrier so I could finish laundry and dishes, etc. She loved it! It's super convenient, but oh does it hurt my shoulders. They still hurt today.

It was really nice to entertain... we never get to do that anymore. Craig did everything... prepped all the food, wine, got the table set up, etc. It looked so nice!

Lisa & Laura showed up with flowers! So sweet.

Sadly, I didn't think to take any pics while they were here. Next time. :)

Today, Memorial Day, we sent some pics to Mema hoping to entice her (with cuteness!) to set up her webcam we sent her for Mother's Day.

It worked! We spent the better part of the afternoon testing out and talking to Mom & Greg. So long that McKenna had to break for a nap.

*Note the adorable little t-shirt that was handed down from McKenna's cousin Sophia.... and there are loads more adorable clothes yet to be worn. Such little fashion plates we're creating in this family. :)

As mentioned in my previous post, McKenna got her 4 month vaccination shots and it has wreaked havoc on her sleeping schedule. I hope we're coming out the other side of it now. Last night was ridiculous. She would NOT sleep once I put her down. Finally, Craig set up camp on the couch and McKenna slept with Mommy. Although I'm sure the sounds of loud laughter earlier that evening didn't help her drift off into a sound sleep. Oh well, I like to think that she'll have to learn to go to sleep while Mommy & Daddy have friends over in the evenings. So far, our social circle is small, minuscule really, but hopefully it will continue to grow. The few friends we do have are really good, down-to-earth, FUN people. I'll take more of those... Yes, please!
